File Under: Things That Have Just Occurred In My Kitchen. Reese’s Puffs Marshmallow Treats!
I am forcing myself to wait until Adrian gets home from work, so’s I can dig in with her.
So today, at work, I saw a very interesting parenting choice. It upset me to watch it, too. Not greatly, the kid wasn’t being beaten or berated. But it was frustrating to see it, and think that this cycle they had created, would likely continue.
Here is this Dad, and presumably his mother, walking around this fancy-ass grocery store with his two little children in tow. The elder still probably not in school, was trouncing around shouting “I WANNA BE A PRINCESS!!” whilst the father was picking up various items, cooing at his newborn, and chatting with his presumed mother. All the while they would, both adults, correct this little boy “Prince! You mean you want to be a prince!” ”NO! I WANNA BE A PRINCESS!!” ”But you know what a princess is, right? That’s the girl prince! You mean you want to be a boy prince!” ”NO! I WANNA BE A PRINCESS!!” Then they would both sigh in exasperation.
Poor little dude just wants to be a princess, folks, let him be a princess! Don’t fear him or his attitude! I wanted to shout at those adults, and shake them.
So, today is my birthday! On a day we both had off, I celebrated with Adrian in my own fashion: we went to the American Museum of Natural History, up next to Central Park, and then to dinner.
So far I’ve received WAY too much money from my family. As well as some of my books from my library in Richmond. But my favorite thing is the noise-cancelling headphones my mum got me. They work so damn well! This city is extremely noisy, and I often have trouble hearing, so being able to get rid of a lot of the background noise is super helpful!

Also Bender. He talks.
I’m still waiting on one more thing from my mom, another box ‘o’ books via my aunt, and whatever it is that Adrian has for me. But, all in all, and despite the fact that I had to work on what should be a National Holiday, it’s been a great birthday!
I’ve got everything I want from life, right now. I’m as surprised as you are! Things are, shockingly, working out.
I got a new kitty :D Still deciding on a name for him though
We got Adrian’s cat, Lily, a friend. I’m calling him Farnsworth. He is super affectionate, and has a funny chirpy meow! He doesn’t even have a problem with Lily currently despising him and growling at him through the door!
Yes, please.

…so far I’m failing it, horribly.
…because I got a job. (!!!) And now I’m making chilli for some people coming over. (!!!!!)
…a lease was signed for an apartment in Brooklyn. Keys are waiting for me. It’s so surreal. I’m at a complete loss for words, when usually they come so easily to me.
So I just got back from DC, and checked the mail, to find that this had arrived, sometime in my absence, from The Country Fucker! Where did you find this stamp and who’s in charge of giving me permission to tattoo it on my arm?
Oh yes. Candy canes are my favorite part of this time of year. That and these delicious, like…pinwheel dough things my mom makes. So good!
